Get Ready, Get set, RANT AT FOX!
Pheww! Take a deep breath. Don’t scream. Well not until after you watch this. Yes, Fox news has done a report on the John Edwards campaign (which it claims is officially endorsed by his office though I’ve read the contrary).
Seriously, after watching this “news” report I had to walk laps around my living room to prevent myself from SCREAMING! This is the most selective, biased, uninformed “journalistic” propaganda I’ve seen in a while and that’s saying something!
Apparently, Second Life is just filled to the brim with sexual deviants, rude Christians, and terrorist violence. There’s no mention of music, education, art, social discourse (which this reporter believes can only be accomplished through chat…what about the space itself? Hello!!!).
Wow…yeah…I have to calm down. I’ll go watch that German kid screaming again. He’s Zen compared to how I feel about this level of disgustingly sloppy reporting

That’s like explaining what the Internet is and leaving out everything except porn sites and sites made by neo-Nazis. Yes that stuff is there, but thats not all there is.. Oh and as one of the non-rude Christians in SL, I will admit there are quite a few rude ones. Its hard to distance myself from them yet still be open about my faith.

Wow. To sum up anything worldly (the internet, Second Life, music, art, etc) by looking only at the negative is just TERRIBLE reporting.
You can take an opinion, but ignoring the truth, that there’s much more out there, is just plain stupid.

I agree whole-heartedly with you, but of course the story was on Fox News - what did we expect?
Also, along with Grizzy, I am one of the non-rude Christians in Second Life and it’s very frustrating to have the nutcases running around harassing people, or even cheating them in the name of “evangelism”. They perpetuate a stereotype and it’s too bad, because the rest of us seem to be a good bunch of people.
My friend Ipenda sums it up quite well when he states that ignoring the truth (or failing to investigate your story properly) is just plain stupid. They are the failures, not us.

Yeah I saw this piece of Journalism “fluff” and was annoyed by it. But then, its Fox News! just hearing their reporters voices send me into epileptic fits.
I can’t stand ANY reporter giving me their opinion, do me a favor, give me the news and I’ll make my own opinion. I mean I spent all that money on that college degree, critical thinking… yeah, thats what they called it!

Thanks for ruining my breakfast. It “is” hard for some people to get past the sex in SL, but then those are the people who see sex as sinful in RL, and prefer to screw each other in more socially brutal ways. Clearly, there are colleges and universities , etc. in RL towns that also have strip clubs and sexual predators. But I think Fox News will be in SL before you know it, because it “does” contain the kind of crap/perversion they like to observe–mark my words.
