Second Life Education Workshop for Beyond Broadcast Conference

I was lucky to have been invited to run an in-world education workshop for the MIT Beyond Broadcast conference today. We had a great turnout of about 20 people. The discussion ranged from creating connections between the real and the virtual, simple simulation tools that anyone can make in SL, all the way to Sloodle and professional teaching avatars. Stay tuned for links to blogs about the event.

Thank you for this session! It was a very enlightening piece to just some of the educational possibilities behind SL. I am very interested in learning more and will be following this Blog because this is clearly a great resource. I am a high school foreign-language teacher (German) and am new to SL . For a week I have been on the SLED listserv. Though I will remain on it, the amount of information has been a bit overwhelming. The conversation of your session above really helped me feel more confident that there are people out there like me who do not dream in code and yet who have definite ideas about ways to significantly improve learning. I do have a specific questions:In regard to the discussion of the star diagram and ways it could be used in classroom dialogue and learning, I would like to know more. Is there a way that we could find a more detailed elaboration of this strategy? Thanks!
